Echoes of the Amazon

Every interview we held with these amazing women carried inspiring stories, invaluable advice, and words of motivation.

Besides the documentary, we would like to share with you a set of individual interviews with each leader who collaborated with us on Echoes of the Amazon. May their voices resonate and inspire recognition, action, faith, and empowerment among the girls and women who aspire to become leaders for the wellbeing of our planet.

Marthe & Adrianne from JKB

Ariadne and Marthe, young board members of the Youth Climate Movement (JKB), add their voice by reminding us to “educate the men around the table as well”—meaning “fix the system, not the girl.” Their words reveal not only the persistence of global inequities—visible even in the differing access of nations to international climate summits—but also the determination of a new generation unwilling to accept them.

Wiktoria Chudzik

Wiktoria is an example of a passion-driven leadership! “I conduct research related to marine biology, currently focusing on the health of marine clams, although I am passionate about many topics concerning the seas and oceans. I actively participate in academic and social life. As a researcher and educator, I strive to inspire others to deepen their knowledge and explore the mysteries of nature. I believe that through learning and understanding, we build greater awareness of the importance of protecting the natural world around us. The topic of women in science is also particularly close to my heart. Throughout my journey, I have met many inspiring and motivating female leaders, researchers, mentors, and supervisors. Thanks to them, I hope to become such an example for someone in the future.”

Liliana Jauregui

Liliana Jauregui (IUCN NL) reflects on nature in her homeland as a “strict mother” that cannot be bent to human will—contrasting it with the Dutch landscape, where nature is often seen as malleable—and calls for international solidarity with women at risk for defending their lands.
