Amazons project calls on public bodies to value and promote climate women leaders by embedding gender-responsive approaches across environmental programs and decision-making processes.
The Amazons Policy Brief is directed to Educational Leaders, Community Builders, Non-Governmental Organizations, and other key stakeholders across Youth, VET, and Higher Education sectors, as well as decision-makers in institutions, companies, and organizations operating within the Green Sector and beyond. It also speaks to local policy-makers, governance bodies, researchers, and students who play a vital role in shaping inclusive and sustainable futures.

Our intention is clear and action-oriented. We aim to:
- Raise awareness among individuals and organizations with the resources and influence to create meaningful change.
- Equip stakeholders with strong foundations for argumentation, grounded in research and real-world evidence.
- Offer strategic policy directions that serve as a practical starting point for action, advocacy, and deeper reflection.
The structure
The Policy Brief contains a research-informed overview of the structural, cultural, and institutional challenges that limit women’s participation and advancement within environmental leadership. This framework is derived from previously conducted research, also within the Amazons Project’s work package dedicated to challenging systemic barriers.
What is even more important, the document offers a targeted guidance for decision-makers, educators, and NGOs. Three separate categories outline actionable and field-specific steps to foster gender-inclusive leadership pathways across environmental and green sectors.
